원 월드 트레이드 센터 (One World Trade Center)

2001 년 9 월 11 일은 미국에게는 어두운 날이었습니다. 테러 공격으로 2977 명이 사망하고 뉴욕의 트윈 타워가 파괴되었습니다. 9/11 기념관은 희생자들을 기억하기 위해 이러한 공격이 발생했던 곳에 세워졌습니다. 테러 공격 10 주년 만에 문을 열었습니다. 폭포를 사용하여 채워지는 2 개의 광장 수영장이 설치되었고 피해자의 이름들이 이 곳의 가장자리마다 새겨져 있습니다.

September 11, 2001 was a dark day for America. Terrorist attacks killed 2977 people and destroyed the Twin Towers in New York. The 9/11 Memorial was built where these attacks took place to remember the victims. It opened on the day after the 10th anniversary of the terrorist attacks. Two square pools are filled using waterfalls and the names of the victims are inscribed on the edge of the pools.

It has also been referenced in many poems, books, and pop culture. ‘The New Colossus’ by Emma Lazarus is a famous poem that talks about The Statue of Liberty. First unveiled in 1886, it was a gift from France to the United States and was made using copper. Over time, the statue has become the shade of green it is known for today.

UN 본부 (UN Headquarters)

The main United Nations headquarters is situated in New York, along the East River. In this building, which was completed in 1952, are the main parts of the UN. These include the General Assembly and the Security Council, where decisions on peacekeeping and political disputes are made. Ban Ki Moon, a South Korean politician, served as the eighth Secretary-General of the UN between 2007 and 2016.
